Though this semi-permanent tattoo procedure is a fairly low-risk there are some circumstances in which the treatment should be avoided. These include:
- If you are pregnant or nursing.
- If you are taking blood-thinning medication.
- If you suffer from cold sores.
If you do suffer from cold sores or blisters, before booking for any semi-permanent makeup procedure, it is always a good idea to check in with your practitioner to assess any potential risks of experiencing an outbreak on the lips. Over the counter medication can be taken 10days prior/post receiving the procedure.
For optimal results, make sure you do the following prior to your appointment:
- Exfoliate the lips for three days before your procedure and stay hydrated.
- For 48 hours before your appointment, make sure to avoid any type of blood thinner. These include alcohol, coffee, ibuprofen, Tylenol, aspirin, and fish oil.
